The Project

Playing with history is a trans-national project co-funded by the European Commission within the framework of the Culture2000 programme.

The aim of the project is to create a European network of organisations, representing 11 member States, involved in promoting and focusing attention on historical games and traditions to encourage adults and young people to discover their own history and common European cultural roots.

The involvement of schools will allow young people to get directly in touch with games and historical traditions, discover their roots and compare them with those of other countries, find the historical roots of European peoples and meet different cultures. Five itinerant exhibitions and a big final event on historical traditions and games will be held in the 6 partner countries between April-July 2006 presenting all the work created by the children during the project.

An European exhibition on historical traditions and games will be held in Cigole
(Brescia - IT) in July 2006 presenting all the works created by the young in all partner Countries during the project implementation.

The project is managed and coordinated by the Project leader (Fondazione Pianura Bresciana)
together with the 5 co-organisers. Each co-organiser is involved in creating various activities according to each WP and is responsible for the WP, which it has most experience in. They share the procedures and the working techniques so as to be able to obtain the results and consolidate the partnership.

Project beneficiaries are
young people, teachers, the general public, museum curators, cultural bodies, local organisations.
